Whether you are counting down the days till Halloween or just already tired of being marooned indoors by winter weather, I’ve got a treat for you.

Fat Cat Arcade is a website chock full of free games to play online. There are all kinds of games, including

  • Classic Games
  • Physics Games
  • Puzzle Games
  • Shooting Games
  • Sport Games
  • Strategy Games
  • Action Games
  • Arcade Games
  • Basketball Games

There are games for all ages and interests, from two cute baby chicks saving Pamela Anderson from the evil Colonel Sanders to sophisticated strategy and physics games and traditional arcade games.

I especially love puzzle games, strategy games, and physics games. Right now my favorite among the strategy games is Pirates vs Ninjas. What can I say? It’s just too much fun. I had to tear myself away from it to finish writing this post.

Puzzle and physics games can actually be good for your mind—and your work productivity. They make you think, and some help train your memory or enhance reasoning skills.

These games can be educational as well as fun. Plus, research shows that taking a few minutes break to play any game can refresh your mind so that you work better.

A particularly interesting game in the Physics category, especially for engineers and designers, is Coconut Run, where you design and drive a cart to transport coconuts to a shredder to make (of all things) car seats. You get points not only for how many coconuts your cart holds (without falling out on rough terrain) but also on how fast you build the cart and get your cargo to the shredder. This is challenging as well as fun and it’s good brain training.

For sports fans there are sport games and a whole separate category of basketball games—perfect for this time of year.

And did I mention that you can play all the games as many times as you want to—for free? Bye for now. I’m off to play some more Pirates vs Ninjas!
