Looking through the Halloween costumes at your local department store, you are not impressed. Either the costume you were looking for is sold out, or the quality just does not measure up.

As well, you do not want your child to have the same Halloween costume as every other child.
Homemade Halloween costumes are a great alternative and well within your abilities. Creating something unique and special will allow your child to stand out.

As a child myself, we created our own homemade Halloween costumes every year.
With the help of my mom, we always came up with something cool and different than anything else out there. They were always better than what was available in the stores.

Creating something unique for your child is actually pretty simple.
Usually it requires no more than a great idea, some items around the house. You can make this something you plan for over the year, putting away things that could be used to design a great homemade costume. Getting your child involved in the process is a way to create memories that will last forever.

You might feel you are not very creative, myself included.
Browsing through magazines, books, and the internet will help the process of coming up with a great idea this year. You might also consider talking with a neighbor and coming up with something that you child and their child could design together.

As a last resort or if you are running out of time, there are some great books
available on the how-tos of designing an homemade Halloween costume.

One great resource that I recommend,
Homemade Halloween Costumes Made Simple. Loaded with great ideas, you will have something perfect for your child this Halloween.
