Have Fun With Your Halloween Costume. Terrify Your Friends

Posted March 19th, 2010 by Halloweenish

Who said Halloween can be a dooms day? This is one of the most awaited days annually by most children. They can enjoy the party and scare people because of the Halloween costumes they sport. It is also considered by many the scariest time of the year.

Halloween costume parties are most common nowadays. This provides fun to both young and old. Halloween costumes reveal how artistic and imaginative people when it comes to inventing a character. In turn, wearing those set of clothes plus some prosthetics frighten people. This is a satisfying result to the artist.

Many types of attire have been trademarks during this moment of the year. All you need to have is a powerful imagination to portray a character. Plus, you need to have an attitude towards your portrayal to add color to its totality.

Its main goal is to cause terror. Therefore, turning to your very own fantasy and persona during this holiday requires special materials, knowledge and artistry. This is both an applied science and art.

Get ups during “Scare Day” includes ghosts, witches, goblins, pumpkins or dead human bodies with blood all over. Other television-inspired choices are princess, superman, batman, penguin, or a famous television character. These have been on the top list of children because they always see it on TV.

One of most interesting about this event is that you are given an opportunity to transform yourself into something or someone. You can be a sexy witch, seductress vampire or a princess.

If you’re an adult who is always busy and have no time to create attire, then you must visit shops prior to this occasion. You should not miss this happening. Grab your own Halloween costume and stroll around to scare.

Selecting Your Favorite Halloween Costume

Posted March 18th, 2010 by Halloweenish

It is that time of year again when everyone can get dressed up in Halloween fancy dress and be as scary as possible. Fancy dress outfits are always great fun, but at this time of the year they are an absolute scream (no pun intended).

The only thing that you need to help you, when it comes down to choosing an outfit, is your imagination. There are literally hundreds of different things to dress up as for a fancy dress party at this time of year. You can choose Halloween fancy dress costumes from one of the traditional selections or you could think of a well known horror film and base your outfit on a character from that. If imagination is something that comes to you easily then you could dream up your very own scary outfit.

So, if you are opting for a traditional look, you will need to choose from the usual group of suspects. The most popular character for Halloween fancy dress has to be Dracula. The lord of the undead is always a great choice when it comes to parties. Alternatively, for female guests, there is the option of the ’sexy vampiress’ or one of Draculas’ many ghostly brides. Whilst we are on the subject of the living dead, Zombies always go down an absolute treat at this type of function.

Other characters that are a popular include Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Ghoul and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. These are all classic characters and you will have no difficulty whatsoever when it comes to finding them in a selection of fancy dress outfits. Going to a ‘Halloween fancy dress party’ dressed up as an alien is another good option, but try to make it as scary as possible. Some interstellar travellers tend to look a bit on the cute side. This is not going to be very effective on All Hallows Eve; think along the lines of ‘Predator’ rather than ‘E.T.’.

If you are going to choose a scary film as the theme for your Halloween fancy dress then it is advisable to find one that other guests will recognise. For example, a good choice would be Edward Scissorhands. Everyone is familiar with that character and people will know who you are supposed to be straight away. What would be inadvisable would be for you to dress up as a specific monster that is visible in the background of a certain scene of ‘Granny meets the Blender Killer’. I think you get the idea…

For those people who have a vivid imagination, it can be just as much fun inventing your Halloween fancy dresscostume as it is to wear one. There are all sorts of things that you can do to make yourself look scary. Fake blood is readily available from lots of different places and there are even kits which allow you to create your very own hairy boils and growths. It only takes a very small amount of time to come up with some pleasantly revolting injuries and convincing physical defects.

Nice Angel Costumes For Halloween Get Together

Posted March 18th, 2010 by Halloweenish

This Halloween, there is an even greater choice of fancy dress available than ever before. This means that there is no excuse for predictably dressing up as a witch or vampire yet again. However, it can be very difficult to decide on a costume, given the bewildering range of outfits to choose from. So here’s a suggestion — why not dare to be mischievous and naughty and dress up as a dark messenger in a devil red or black angel costume? There are some fantastic outfits around at the moment and fallen angel costumes are among the sexiest around!

If you have difficulty in deciding whether to be naughty or nice, then a double trouble angel fancy dress costume will show your true colors. The costume represents the balance between good and evil and a dual personality. This outfit is available on line in both child and adult sizes and consists of a half devil half angel “Marabou” trim dress with bell sleeves, half devil half angel glitter wings and a halo/horn headband. The devil side is the left half of the costume, which is in red and the angel side (which is white, of course) is the right half.

If Gothic is your thing, then you could dress up as a skull angel. I have seen a wonderful Gothic skull dark angel costume, which includes a black dress with silver lacing at the front and a tattered skull printed skirt, a headband with mini skull detailing around a black halo and black sheer wings. Matching accessories include a skull wand and opaque black stockings also with skull detailing. This angel costume would be fabulous teamed with black lace-up boots and elbow length black gloves.

If you want to display your rebellious streak, then you will really stand out in the crowd in a full-length silver coloured fallen angel costume, available for hire or purchase through the internet. This is one of the most beautiful angel fancy dress outfits I have seen and could easily double up as an evening gown. The clever thing about this dress is that the wings are attached by sliding the metal wires at the end of the wings directly into two thin discreet slots (one for each wing), sewn into the inside of the back of the dress.

Therefore, if you want to wear it minus wings, it is easy to do so. The wings themselves are huge, amazing creations and the silver coloured rose halo could double as a tiara for an evening function. This is not a cheap costume, costing in the region of 200 dollars, but is well worth it in my opinion, as it looks very classy and is so versatile.

So, there’s no excuse for donning that tired old Freddie Krueger mask or Dracula’s fangs. Have fun instead in a fallen angel fancy dress costume this Halloween!

Halloween is almost here and you still have time to get your kids some trick-or-treat Halloween costumes. But come to think of it, it isn’t really practical to buy a costume from the kids’ department at your local mall since the following year your kids will be bigger and taller, and their costumes would be out-of-date.

A better and practical way to solve this problem is to DIY or do it yourself. You can save a lot from DIY Halloween costumes for kids because you won’t be wasting a couple of dollars for each kid each year. The kids might want to share in the fun and spirit of Halloween and they might want to do so in the form of decorating their room. Well, you should by all means let them! It would even be better if you will be there to share the moment with them so that it can turn out to be a fun bonding experience for you and your kids. Just make sure you have the following tips in check as you decorate the kids bedroom in time for the Halloween season:

1. Meet with the kids – It is always the best option to start with a plan, especially if your kids are still pretty young. Doing things spontaneously would be great but if the kids are still young they might get to be a bit distracted and they might find the whole idea stressful.

So do it the right way by sitting down with them, pen and paper in hand, and then jot down the things that you all want to appear in the room. This is also a lovely way for you to get the ideas coming from your kids and help them exercise their very own creativity. Read more »

Avoid Fear for a Healthy Halloween

Boo!

Is Halloween one of your favorite holidays?

I’m a huge fan of it, myself. Candy, cool Halloween costumes, gathering with friends for Halloween parties… I love it all, except when people scare others.

A few years ago, I purchased this mask of a cool ghoul as part of my Halloween costume. But the mask wasn’t as frightening as it was for me to sit on the porch of my friend’s house handing out candy. Why was that scary?

Women came by and handed me their babies to take a picture. My costume didn’t scare the infants and toddlers, who were too young to know any better, but I couldn’t see a thing! I had a real fear I would drop someone’s baby.

The Emotional Effects of Fright

The emotion we feel when our friends jump out from behind the bushes at us on Halloween yelling, “Boo!” is characterized as “fright.” It’s the same chills we get when we watch a scary movie and view the scene where the evil killer jumps out at the girl entering the basement. Read more »
